Biography:

Azza's full name is Azza Hamed Morsi Balbaa. She was born in the city of Alexandria, studied at the Lycee school and then the Faculty of Commerce, graduating in 1979. She was an avid fan of Sheikh Imam Eissa and the poet Ahmed Fouad Negm, and attended the concerts they did at the university. In 1982, she joined the Arabic Music Ensemble led by renowned musician AbdelHalim Noweira. In 1984, she joined the Angham El Shabab (Melodies of Youths) started by Manar Abu Heif, her physical education teacher in the Lycee.

Azza Balbaa starred in many musicals such as "Zay Mat'heb" (As you Like it), "Helm Yousef" (Yousef's Dream), "Alam Qorood Qorood", "Opera el Talat Shanabat" (the Opera of the three Moustaches) and "Semiramis". She also acted in the children's plays "Asfoor el Gana" (Bird of Paradise), "Haresat Al Rabe'e" (Guardian of the Spring) and "Al Beer al Ajeeb" (The Amazing Well). She played the character Nozha in the operetta "Al Eshra al Tayeba" (Good Company) with the singer Azza Gamal, and she also sang scores for some TV shows. Azza Balba' also recorded a music album titled "Rehlat al Awham" (The Journey of Illusions), composed by Sayed Hegab and the music written by Ali Saad. She covered the song "Sa'at" originally sung by Magda Al Roumy in the epic film "Awdat al Ibn al Daal" (The Return of the Drifted Son). She also sang two songs; "Shidu Heilkum" and "Ya Sanabel" at the Wheat Festival.
