Let Me Think (LMT)

The creative minds constitute one of the main pillars of development of a nation. Unfortunately, the existing Egyptian educational system does not provide the appropriate environment for students to flourish and explore their creativities and capacities.

Although it is crucial that we refine the methodology of work at schools, it may be hard to achieve immediately. As a result, we took the initiative of creating LMT to work with children aging from 7 to 15 years old.

LMT is a program designed to change the mind set of Egyptians and make everyone in the society believe that nobody is stupid; there are only less trained brains. We aspire to changing the current methodology of assimilation used by students that has been deeply rooted by our educational system for a long time. Actually, students memorize school curricula in a very static way with the sole goal of passing the exams.

LMT is a workshop designed to teach children to think, imagine and develop solutions and ideas for specific virtual situations and problems. The aim of the program is to show children how thinking could also be a fun activity, by inciting them to do it informally through mind exercise and games.

Using a problem solution approach and working as a team shall be the key to solving the problems and winning the games.

Our motto is “Nobody is stupid”. Hence, each child will be asked to participate by discussing, arguing, evaluating and appreciating others’ ideas.

The program also emphasizes the ethical side and keeps the core values into consideration.

During the summer, the attendees were coming individually, while during the school year, we have groups of students from primary and preparatory schools.

To ensure that the acquired methodology would become the trend when approaching problems, two follow up programs are being implemented: The Thinking Club that the child automatically joins after attending the workshop, and a series of inexpensive books compiling the games that have been played throughout the different workshops will be published for maximum outreach.
