Political Education and Free Art after the Revolution in Egypt

Exactly eight months after the 'Tahrir miracle' and the overthrow of the Mubarak regime fear is growing. The fear to lose the revolution and the hope for a new modern and democratic Egypt starts to fade. Only the Egyptian citizens themselves are still fighting to gain their basic rights and they remain the most crucial force in building new political and social structures. In this context, 'Mayadin Al-Tahrir - the Network for Political Education and Liberal Arts in Egypt' aims to support political education of individuals, the ability to form an opinion and the free expression of it e.g. through art.

The goal of WWW.MAYADINALTAHRIR.ORG is to use the historical moment of the revolution with its positive energy to reach a sustainable change within the society towards democracy. In cooperation with the Goethe-Institut in Cairo 'Mayadin al-Tahrir' organizes this event for introducing the foundation, goals and projects of our network as well as for discussing further possibilities of networking and evaluation. The language of the event will be Arabic with German translation.

2.30 - 4.00 pm: Atef Botros: Introducing the aims and projects of 'Mayadin Al-Tharir'

4.30 - 6.00 pm Evaluation of recent projects and possibilities of cooperation as well as developing ideas for further projects. NGOs, foundations and activists are invited.
