Mr. Mohamed El Sawy, Owner and CEO of Alamia for Publishing and Advertizing and El Sawy Culturewheel, has taken a new initiative to expand the reach for the Egyptian culture. The newest addition to his activities is the Sound of Sakia Online Radio.

The idea came out by the end of 2007 to launch an FM radio to serve the culture scene in Egypt, but due to some difficulties, the idea could not be implemented at the time. Due to the new technologies available nowadays, the idea was transmitted from a conventional FM radio station to an online radio station.

A feasibility study has then been held with all the requirements for a general online radio, which was found to be very simple to implement and a bit more difficult to perfect technically. Mr. Mohamed El Sawy decided to take on the challenge and started putting a team together to run the station.

The project was undergoing many trials and errors due to the lack of experience existing concerning the online in general, with a lot of help which was offered by many from different backgrounds, the project finally came to light.

Sound of Sakia Online Radio is intended to serve the underground culture scene existing in Egypt and bringing it on the surface through many phases already planned. The main themes to be addressed will evolve around culture, music, history, civilization and awareness campaigns. The target of the station is to become a full-fledged radio with various programs, promos, advertisings and live shows. On later stages, there will be offering for different channels with a variety of languages and it is planned as well to go FM.

The radio is open for the audience contribution in various ways, as it is meant to be from the people to the people.
